Franklin County supervisors meeting recap from March 17

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday, March 17, at the courthouse in Hampton.

Supervisors approved a resolution to vacate a portion of a county road in Section 28, including part of Road No. 89 and an associated easement. Officials say no objections were received during the public hearing, and Tulip Avenue will remain open.

During committee updates discussion included a potential data center moratorium to allow time for planning and zoning to develop an ordinance.

County Engineer Jay Waddingham and Sheriff Aaron Dodd also met with the board to review safety concerns at the intersection of County Road C25 and Highway 65. Supervisors asked for options, including adding lights to a “stop ahead” sign. No further action was taken at this time.

In other business, the board proclaimed April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and ordered the courthouse clocktower to be lit teal April 1 through 14.
