Iowa Department of Corrections names Stroud deputy director of institutional operations

The Iowa Department of Corrections has announced a new leadership appointment.

According to a press release from the Iowa Department of Corrections, Marcy Stroud has been named Deputy Director of Institutional Operations. Stroud brings more than 30 years of experience with the department, including a background in institutional operations, staff development and evidence-based correctional practices.

Stroud most recently served as warden of the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility, where she oversaw daily operations, staff development and strategic initiatives. Throughout her career, she has also held roles as deputy warden, correctional treatment director and director of the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center.

In the release, Corrections Director Beth Skinner says Stroud’s experience and leadership make her well-suited for the position, noting her understanding of the complexities of institutional operations and her focus on people-centered leadership.

In her new role, Stroud will oversee the safe and effective operation of Iowa’s correctional institutions and work closely with wardens and leadership teams across the state.

Stroud holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and has completed additional training in correctional leadership, mental health services and organizational development.
