The Rockwell City Council took action on several items during its regular meeting Wednesday evening.
The council approved the purchase of new water tower control equipment from Quality Pump and Control for about $4,600. The system will allow the city to monitor issues remotely through a cellular connection.
Council members also approved a five-year tax abatement for a new building at 402 Second Street South, pending verification of construction dates. The request will be forwarded to the county assessor’s office as Resolution 2026-1.
In other business, the council set an April 1 deadline for cemetery mowing bids and discussed a planned citywide curbside pickup for large items, tentatively scheduled for May 9.
A request from the Lions Club for band sponsorship was tabled, and the council agreed to explore a cost-saving government purchasing program for a future skid loader.
