At its Monday meeting, the Belmond City Council received the fiscal year 2025 audit from Fort & Schlegel C.P.A., which highlighted the city’s financial status and key findings.

City Manager Cody Nicholas said he continues to review the budget, while Public Works Director Justin Fournier reported that a damaged plow has been rebuilt and his department had some issues with the heavy snow recently.

Police Chief Dario Gamino provided a winter update, noting seven snow bans this season and 36 tickets issued, and highlighted Officer Kevin Tapia’s first day at the academy.

Under new business, the council approved paying off the 930M loader lease early, saving the city roughly $7,000 in interest. The council also approved hiring Robert Summers as a street operator, pending a physical and a six-month probation period.
