
The Franklin County Board of Supervisors approved a fiscal year 2025-26 budget amendment and took steps toward a major courthouse project during meetings Tuesday at the courthouse in Hampton.
During the morning session, supervisors approved a budget amendment totaling about $154,000 in increased expenditures. The board also approved a resolution to move forward with a general obligation urban renewal loan agreement of up to $1.3 million to support the 2026 courthouse urban renewal project.
Additional action included proclaiming April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and ordering the clock tower to be lit blue on April 15-30.
Later in the day during a special session meeting, supervisors held a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2027 property tax levy.
