The Aplington City Council held two special meetings Wednesday evening focused on the proposed property tax levy and upcoming budget planning.
During the first meeting, Mayor Jason Mehmen opened a public hearing on the proposed property tax levy. No public comments were received, and the meeting adjourned shortly after.
In a second special meeting later that evening, council members met with the city clerk to discuss multiple budget-related items. The council unanimously approved setting April 8 for two public hearings — one at 6 p.m. on the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget, followed by a budget adoption hearing at 6:15 p.m.
