Hampton residents will have multiple opportunities to dispose of unwanted items during the city’s upcoming spring clean-up days, scheduled for April 17, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 25.

Items will be accepted at the Hampton Compost site, 1236 Olive Ave., on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Accepted items include appliances (which must be clean and empty), large toys, grills, furniture, windows and tree branches less than 8 inches in diameter. TVs and monitors will be accepted for a fee of $25 per item, while tires without rims will cost $12 each.

Items not accepted include hazardous materials, LP cylinders, water softeners, hot water heaters, commercial tires, construction debris and tree branches larger than 8 inches in diameter.

Pick-up days are also scheduled for April 17 and 24. Residents must schedule pick-up through Center 1 prior to their collection date. Items must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. and be clearly visible. Yard waste and trash will not be accepted for pick-up.

To schedule a pick-up or purchase needed tags for TVs, monitors or tires, residents can contact Center 1 at 641-456-5668. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Additional details on a hazardous materials drop-off event are expected to be announced in June.
