The West Fork girls golf team will rely on a young roster as it opens the 2025 season, with a focus on development and steady improvement throughout the spring.
Head Coach Abbie Emhoff says the Warhawks roster features two seniors, with the remainder of the lineup made up largely of sophomores and freshmen. Despite the inexperience Emhoff sees upside in the group.
“I would say we got a lot of potential this year”, says Emhoff. “We have a young group, but we have a lot of potential and it’s a really fun group.”
Youth has also shaped the identity of the team early in the season. Emhoff describes the Warhawks as eager to learn, with practices centered on fundamentals, particularly putting.
While results may take time, Emhoff says growth will be the key benchmark for success this season.
“Because we do have such a young group, I’m going to say that a successful season for us is going to be that all of our scores improve and that the girls enjoy the game of golf,” says Emhoff.
West Fork will host multiple meets this season, including the conference tournament, giving the Warhawks a familiar setting as they look to build and compete with the Top of Iowa Conference.
The Warhawks first meet will be a triangular on the road in Lake Mills at the Rice Lake Golf and Country Club on April 6.
