Franklin County Supervisors set agenda for March 31 meeting

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors will consider a proposed ordinance that would place a moratorium on new data center development during its meeting Tuesday morning.

A public hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on a proposed ordinance that would temporarily halt new permit applications for data center projects in unincorporated areas of the county. Following the hearing, supervisors will consider waiving the first and second readings and moving to a third and final reading of the ordinance.

Other agenda items include a department update from Secondary Roads Engineer Jay Waddingham and a strategic planning discussion with Iowa State Extension and Outreach.

Supervisors will also set a public hearing date for the fiscal year 2027 budget and act on several resolutions, including updates to county policies and procedures and the noxious weed control program for summer 2026.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Franklin County Courthouse.
