
A penalty kick was the difference Monday when the Wright County boys soccer team defeated Iowa Falls-Alden in the season opener Monday, as aired on 104.9 KLMJ and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel.
Wright County’s Adam Dak put the ball in the back of the net with less than four minutes left in regulation, helping seal the win. The teams played a scoreless first half, but the Bronco offense had multiple scoring opportunities. Adjustments allowed the Cadets to get some shots on goal throughout the second half, but they couldn’t connect on a prime scoring opportunity. Angel Cortes also registered five shots.
IFA Coach Jake Kaune says the team put itself in a position to compete.
Goalkeeper Layton Renaud recorded seven saves.
In their next action, Wright County will be at Ballard Tuesday and Iowa Falls-Alden will be at Webster City Thursday.
