The Ackley City Council will take up multiple leadership changes, including appointing a new mayor and filling several key staff positions, during its regular meeting Wednesday evening.

The council is scheduled to consider a resolution to appoint a mayor to fill a current vacancy, with the selected candidate expected to take the oath of office during the meeting.

In addition to the mayoral appointment, council members will act on several personnel decisions, including hiring Carrie Stahl as deputy city clerk, Brent Kuper as public works supervisor and Jeff Gronewold as a seasonal public works assistant.

Additional action items include approving a resolution to temporarily close streets and restrict parking for the 2026 car show.

The council is also expected to approve payments related to recent infrastructure work, including repairs to a water main break on Fifth Avenue and equipment maintenance at the wastewater treatment plant.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
