The Aplington-Parkersburg girls golf team placed second with 218 strokes at Tuesday’s quad at Union to begin the season. Waverly-Shell Rock won with 205, the hosts were third with 228 and Don Bosco scored 255.
Individually, Kaylee Stahl tied for second with 50 strokes. Kaibree Nisius was fifth with 53, Sydni Ridder was ninth with 57 and Stella Walker rounded out the scoring with 58 strokes for an 11th place finish.
The boys soccer team won 2-1 at Hudson, with each goal being scored in the second half. Zion Uhlenhopp and Karter Petersen scored the goals.
The #15 (1A) girls soccer team fell 3-1 at home to #3 (1A) Hudson. Trailing 2-0 late in the second half, Claire Thome got the Falcons on the board before the Pirates added another to seal the win.
Both soccer teams will return to action Thursday for a doubleheader in New Hartford that’ll air on 99 The Wave. The United will take on New Hampton and the Falcons will take on the #12 (1A) Wolverines.
