The Iowa River Players Theater will come alive with classic country sounds later this month during “Rowan’s Night of Country Music.”
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the show beginning at 6:30 p.m. Organizers say the evening will feature a lineup of local performers celebrating traditional country music.
Serving as emcee for the night will be Dale Eichor, a Country Music Hall of Fame DJ and longtime voice of KWMT in Fort Dodge. Eichor has also had the honor of serving as an emcee at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee last fall.
Organizer Terri Avery tells RadioOnTheGo News the event is designed as a tribute to a major milestone in country music history.
“We are having a salute to the Grand Ole Opry. The Opry just celebrated its 100th year last year and I’ve always loved country music and we always have a Gospel show in Rowan in the fall. And this year when we did that, I thought, ‘oh, it would just be fun to have a country music Grand Ole Opry night.’ We have a stage band that will be here just like they do on the Opry. And then we have several acts coming in to perform kind of from the north Iowa area.”
A freewill offering will be collected during the event to support roof repairs at the theater. Organizers say the fundraiser will help maintain the historic venue as a space for community performances.
Refreshments will be served prior to the performance. For more information, call Terry Avery at 515-689-3986.
