
One person was injured after a vehicle left the roadway and entered the Shell Rock River just south of Clarksville Sunday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened near the intersection of Highway 188 and 195th Street. A 2023 Toyota pickup driven by 45-year-old Adam Averhoff of Clarksville was northbound on Highway 188 when it went off the road just north of 195th Street and came to rest in the river.
Averhoff was able to get out of the vehicle and was treated for injuries. He was transported by Clarksville EMS to UnityPoint Hospital. Authorities say he was wearing a seatbelt, which is believed to have saved his life.
No other vehicles or individuals are believed to have been involved.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Clarksville Police Department, Clarksville Fire and EMS, Butler County Emergency Management, the Iowa DNR and the Iowa Dive Team.
