West Fork girls claim Cowgirl Relays Class B crown

The West Fork girls track and field team turned in a strong all-around performance Tuesday night, winning Class B of the Cowgirl Relays with 164 points.

The Warhawks were particularly effective in the field events, where Josi Janssen led a one-two finish in the discus, edging teammate Brylee Dickman. Dickman added another runner-up finish in the shot put, while Jojo Schmidt cleared for second in the high jump and Alyssa Wood placed third in the long jump.

On the track, Talia Pommrehn continued her record-setting season, winning the 100 meters in 13.12 seconds to break her own school record. She also added a second-place finish in the 200. Alyssa Wood contributed a runner-up finish in the 100, while Evie Hitzhusen won the 400.

West Fork also found success in the hurdles, with Abby Schoning winning the 400 hurdles and placing third in the 100 hurdles, while Ryann Orton finished second in the 400 hurdles.

In relay action, the 4×400 team of Pommrehn, Dazie Huff, Schoning and Hitzhusen took first, and the sprint medley team of Orton, Cadence Eddy, Huff and Pommrehn placed second. The Warhawks added runner-up finishes in the 4×200 and 4×800, along with a third-place finish in the 4×100.

West Fork returns to action Friday at the Viking Girls Relays in Northwood.
