
The Greene City Council approved the fiscal year 2027 budget during a meeting Monday following a public hearing with no comments.
Council members also approved a plan allowing Kinetic (Windstream) to move forward with fiber optic installation throughout the city, aimed at improving internet service. The work will be completed through a right-of-way agreement overseen by the city attorney.
Several infrastructure and maintenance projects were also approved, including seal coating, asphalt work, sewer main cleaning, and the purchase of a new park mower.
In addition, the council approved wage increases for pool staff, with returning lifeguards set to earn between $11 and $12.40 per hour, and the pool manager wage increasing to $15 per hour. The council also approved the purchase of new umbrellas and repairs to the zero-entry area ahead of the summer season.
City officials also addressed nuisance properties, with letters to be sent to several residents, and provided updates on the upcoming 4th Street water main project, which is expected to begin in May.
