Parents of South Side Elementary in Hampton received a message from Superintendent Tim Felderman Wednesday afternoon regarding a false report made by a third grader earlier in the day.
According to the letter, the school administration and local law enforcement were able to determine that the report was not credible through a joint investigation.
The letter stated that the school has been in direct communication with the families of the students involved in the matter.
“We want to be clear that at no point was there a credible safety threat to our schools today,” the letter stated.
At the end of the letter, Felderman reminded students and families of the importance of sharing accurate information.
“False reports can cause unnecessary disruption and concern,” he wrote. “At the same time, we encourage all students to speak up and report any issue that may impact safety so it can be properly addressed.”
