The Hampton-Dumont-CAL soccer teams will travel to Clear Lake for a doubleheader Thursday.

The Bulldog girls enter the match on a two-game winning streak after defeating Wright County on Monday night. Sophomore Brissa Rojas says Hampton-Dumont-CAL continues to emphasize ball movement and communication as the season progresses.

“We’re working on getting the ball more up, communicating a little more with the team,” Rojas says. “And at practice we practice a lot with drills with passing and just getting the ball more up, up the field.”

Clear Lake enters the girls match with a 3-2-1 record after tying Humboldt in its last contest.

The Bulldog boys are 2-2-3 after Tuesday night’s tie with undefeated Wright County. Head Coach Danielle Arana says faster starts remain a point of emphasis, even as the Bulldogs have shown some improvement.

“That first half was definitely not how we played that second half,” Arana says. “The second half was more intense, just more drive, just more grit to our game. I think that it kind of like boosts them a little bit with more physicality, you know, boys sports. But we did not play quite as fast, quite as hard, quite as driven the first halves, but a little better than we have in the games before. So it’s just still a work in progress.”

Clear Lake enters the boys match unbeaten at 5-0-3.

The doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m.
