
The Rockwell City Council on Wednesday adopted the city’s fiscal 2026-27 budget following a public hearing and also approved First Security Bank and Trust of Rockwell as the city’s depository.
Council members also approved several spending items during the meeting, including $37,700 for maintenance work on the interior of the south water tower and cleaning of the north tower when it is placed back in service. The council also approved $17,000 for grading work between the community center and maintenance shed to address water runoff damage.
In other business, the council approved $300 for Main Street flowers and authorized Mosquito Control of Iowa to spray for the season. Council members also agreed to send letters regarding vacant and nuisance properties, giving property owners 180 days to correct violations.
The council also heard an update from the pool board. City pool cleanup day is scheduled for April 25, and opening day is set for May 25.
