Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf teams will compete in a triangular with Webster City this afternoon in Goldfield. It will be the second meet for each team of the week. The Bulldog girls are being paced by Keely Moorehead who is averaging about 54 strokes per nine holes. For the Cowgirls, they are being paced by Blaire Askelsen who is averaging about 50 strokes per nine holes. The Lynx are being paced by Alleyna Dawson who is averaging about 55 strokes per nine holes.

For Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Head Coach Dustin Moorehead says managing the ups and downs of the sport is a key emphasis this season.

“I think, especially for our returning golfers, the area of emphasis is going to be confidence in yourself and confidence in the decisions that you’re making on the course, and just lock it in and then go up and hit that ball or make that putt or whatever it can be,” Moorehead says. “I feel like golf, you can play the round of your life and turn around two days later and play the worst round you’ve ever had in your life. Just building that consistency and that, what do I wanna say, strengthen that muscle between your ears a little bit so you can be mentally tough when those days aren’t always going as smooth as you were hoping.”

The triangular begins at 4:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Golf Course in Goldfield.
