Drivers in Grundy County should prepare for a lengthy road closure later this month as the Iowa Department of Transportation begins a bridge replacement project on Iowa Highway 175 between Grundy Center and Morrison.

According to the Iowa DOT, crews will close Highway 175 about one mile west of Morrison beginning Tuesday, May 26. The closure is expected to remain in place through September 30, weather permitting, while workers replace the bridge over Munn’s Creek with a twin-box culvert.

During construction, motorists will follow a marked detour route using Highway 14 and Grundy County roads D-35 and T-53.

The Iowa DOT is reminding drivers to use caution in work zones, follow posted speed limits and remain alert while traveling through the area. Current road conditions and travel updates are available at 511ia.org.
