BOOK IT! is making a comeback this summer, giving parents a chance to relive one of the most nostalgic parts of childhood while helping their kids fall in love with reading. The BOOK IT! Summer of Stories program runs June 1 through August 31 for children in pre-K through 6th grade, allowing families to track reading goals through the BOOK IT! app and earn rewards along the way, just like many parents remember growing up.
For families in North Iowa, the nostalgia is even sweeter because Mason City still has a classic Pizza Hut location that brings back memories of earning those famous personal pan pizzas after finishing reading goals. It is the perfect way for parents to share a favorite childhood tradition with a new generation while making summer reading fun again. I can taste the Pepsi from the red colored plastic cups now.
I may have aged out, but this would be fun to duplicate as an adult. I’m headed to my Public Library NOW and grabbing a book to start early!
