State Treasurer Roby Smith has announced the ISave 529 Summer Giveaway, giving Iowa families a chance to win contributions toward future education expenses.
The giveaway will award 99 ISave 529 contributions worth $529 each, with one winner selected from each Iowa county. One grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 ISave 529 contribution.
ISave 529 is Iowa’s direct-sold 529 plan, administered by the state treasurer’s office. The tax-advantaged savings plan can be used for qualified education expenses, including college, apprenticeship programs, trade schools and K-12 tuition. Funds may also be used for certain student loan repayments and other qualified education costs.
Iowa taxpayers can deduct up to $6,100 in contributions per beneficiary account from their state income taxes in 2026. Accounts can be opened with as little as $25, and parents, grandparents, friends and others can contribute.
