The Central Iowa Fair gets underway today at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds in Marshalltown and continues through Sunday, bringing five days of family-friendly entertainment, exhibits, and community traditions. This year’s theme is “Holly Jolly Fair,” giving the annual event a festive Christmas-inspired atmosphere in the middle of summer.
Admission is free, making it easy for families to stop by and enjoy the festivities. Food vendors will be serving a variety of fair favorites throughout the week, while Kidland opens this afternoon at 2 p.m. with rides and activities for children of all ages.
The evening’s schedule features several popular events. At 5:45 p.m., the Central Iowa Fair Queen and Little Miss Princess will be crowned, celebrating young women representing the fair and the community. At 6:30 p.m., children can take part in the colorful Kids Color Fun Run. Looking ahead to Thursday, Santa Claus will make a special summertime appearance at the fair beginning at 5:30 p.m., adding to this year’s Holly Jolly Fair theme.
