The Rowan City Council will hold a public hearing next month on proposed increases to bulk water sales rates, late fees, reconnect fees and temporary disconnect fees.
The council voted July 6 to approve the proposed ordinance amendment as written and set the public hearing for 7 p.m. Aug. 3.
In other business, the council approved splitting the cost of removing four large dead ash trees in the city right of way at 135 Main. Josh Coe told the council he had received an estimate from Wharton Tree Service to drop the trees for $500 each and said he would be willing to split the cost with the city. The council approved the 50% cost-share unanimously.
The council also discussed maintenance updates, including a generator battery at the church that needs to be replaced and a door hinge installed for the generator cord.
City officials also received an update on the water infrastructure project. Veenstra & Kimm is working to update maps showing water main and valve locations.
The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 3.
