The Grundy Center High School volleyball team is holding its team camp this week at the high school as preparations continue for the upcoming season. The Spartans will wrap up the week by competing in a team camp at Johnston High School on Friday.
Head Coach Lori Willis says having so many multi-sport athletes is a major advantage for the program.
“We have a lot of multi-sport athletes, and I love it because it makes them more competitive. Every team you face is different, and every game requires a different strategy. Playing multiple sports helps our athletes learn how to adjust, compete, and grow.”
Willis says the team has already put in plenty of work before the official start of the season.
“We’ve gotten a lot of touches in during our open gyms. We’ve already attended two team camps this summer. We went to UNI in early July, and a couple of weeks ago we went to Pella for another team camp. This week we’ll continue building on that before heading to Johnston on Friday.”
The Spartans hope the busy summer schedule will have them well prepared when the 2026 volleyball season gets underway.
