The Rowan City Council approved changes to several water-related fees during its meeting Monday.
Council members unanimously approved an ordinance following a public hearing that drew no comments. The amendment addresses bulk water, late payment, reconnection and temporary vacancy fees. The council waived the third reading, allowing the changes to take effect with the August billing cycle.
The council also approved a resolution supporting Wright County’s application for a regional brownfields assessment grant.
Members reviewed a preliminary map of water valves for the city’s water infrastructure project. Council member David Eriksen will meet with the project engineer to refine the map.
Josh Coe discussed plans to build two houses on separate lots at 138 Main St. One house would have garage access from an alley that has not been maintained. The city will work with an adjoining property owner to make the alley accessible from the west.
Six nuisance abatement letters will be sent regarding trash, burning of trash, chickens, geese, lawn maintenance and vehicles.
