Iowa has approved more than $2 million in cost-share grants for 38 renewable fuel infrastructure projects across the state.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program Board approved the grants during its July 29 meeting. The funding includes more than $1.43 million for 24 ethanol projects and more than $604,000 for 14 biodiesel projects.
The grants will help fuel retailers install or upgrade equipment needed to offer E15 and biodiesel.
Iowa has more than 1,100 fuel stations offering E15, also known as Unleaded 88. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Iowa drivers saved more than $60 million in 2025 by choosing E15 instead of E10. Savings over the past three years totaled more than $126.5 million.
The Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program was established in 2006. Since then, the state has invested more than $74 million through the program, leveraging more than $280 million in private investment to expand renewable fuel infrastructure across Iowa.
