The Hampton-Dumont School Board took action on several items during its meeting Monday, including decisions involving district athletic facilities.
The board discussed a proposed evaluation of the tennis courts at Progress Park. Members questioned whether it made sense to spend money evaluating the existing courts, while also considering other options, including building replacement courts at another location. The board ultimately tabled the request for the investigation.
The board approved the district’s emergency operations plan and its distance learning plan for the 2026-2027 school year. The plan allows for up to three distance learning days, with up to two additional days possible depending on weather and missed school days.
The board also approved a contract with Iowa Specialty Hospital to provide licensed mental health services for students.
Members discussed removing the baseball and softball bleachers to allow proper installation of a new baseball backstop. The board also discussed the condition of the fields and possible uses of district funds before tabling the matter.
