Hampton-Dumont-CAL continues its homecoming week when it hosts Denver on Friday night.
Head Coach Cole Miller says the Bulldogs have handled the busy homecoming schedule well as they prepare for the Cyclones.
“Homecoming week always adds an element of distractions that you gotta preach to the kids to make sure they’re staying focused throughout the week and focused on the goal of winning a football game,” Miller says.
The Bulldogs will also have to contend with the Cyclones’ power running attack.
“Denver is a big physical team,” Miller says. “If they can, they’ll line up in their power formations and run the ball right at you. So we have to be able to control the line of scrimmage.”
Ball security will be an important factor Friday night as the Bulldogs look to limit Denver’s opportunities to control possession.
“With their offense, if they can get rolling and get to running the ball like they want to, then they’re going to be able to control the time of clock if you give them the ball extra,” says Miller.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
