The Iowa Lottery is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and to celebrate, they are giving Iowans the opportunity to attend the WNBA exhibition game between the Indiana Fever and the Brazilian National Team in Iowa City May 4th.

The sold-out game marks the return of Iowa Hawkeye basketball standout, Caitlin Clark, to Carver-Hawkeye Arena. What is called the “Greatness Returns” contest, it is free to enter and Iowa Lottery CEO Matt Strawn recently spoke with RadioOnTheGo News about their 40th anniversary and how promotions, like this, give back to the community.

“When you think back to why the Iowa Lottery was created in 1985, it was created to fund and raise revenue for important causes here at home. One thing that you’re going to see us doing over the course of this 40th anniversary year is continuing to educate Iowans who does benefit when folks responsibly play the lottery. It’s things like the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. When you go out there and spend $2 on a Powerball ticket, just know that part of that goes to things like the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund, which is a fund of last resort that helps veterans in need all across the state. We’re having a lot of fun with this promotion to give away these tickets to go see Caitlin play, but it also gives me an opportunity to have conversations like this to help all Iowans understand who truly benefits from those proceeds from the sale of a lottery product.”

The “Greatness Returns” contest can be entered by anyone at least 21 years old who is a member of the Iowa Lottery’s free VIP Club. Those who are not current members can register on the lottery’s website at ialottery.com. The entry period for the contest runs through Thursday, April 24th at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be announced April 25th.
