Six Aplington-Parkersburg spring sports teams will be in action Thursday.
The tennis teams will make their annual regular season trip to Byrnes Park to take on Columbus Catholic. The #10 (1A) Falcon girls will have a ranked matchup against the #7 (1A) Sailors. At #1 and #2 singles, Adria Neymeyer and Peyton Klooster are each 7-0. Their likely opponents each have one loss.
At 3-3, the boys tennis team will look to bounce back from Tuesday’s 9-0 loss to Waverly-Shell Rock. The Sailors are 5-4 and defeated Union 9-0 Tuesday and Waterloo West 8-1 Monday. The duals will start at 4:00.
The boys golf team will look to bounce back from their first loss when they host Union at Legend Trail. Union is coming off a 162-186 win over Sumner-Fredericksburg Tuesday. It’ll start at 4:15.
The boys track & field team will have their third meet of the week when they head to BCLUW for the Penick Relays at 4:30.
The soccer teams will play for the first time in over a week against Denver. The #14 (1A) girls will host the #1 (1A) Cyclones in Aplington. The Falcons fell to Denver 3-1 on Tuesday, April 15 on the road in their last game. It’ll start at 5:00.
The #8 (2A) United have won two of their last three games by 10-0 scores. Denver put together a strong offensive performance in Monday’s 8-0 win over Columbus Catholic. It’ll start at 5:30 at Denver.
