Boys golf teams competed at sectional meets Wednesday. Aplington-Parkersburg, Grundy Center and West Fork each won their tournaments to advance as teams to next week’s district meets.
At the 2A sectional at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, the Falcons shot +23 as a team to place first. Benny Waller led the team and was second overall at +3. Mick Steege and Nate Peters shot +6 to tie for fourth, Rylen Ascher tied for eighth at +8 and Caleb Campbell placed 19th at +12. They’ll next compete at the 2A district meet at Lake Mills. Belmond-Klemme placed fifth and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows was eighth.
At the 2A sectional at Roland-Story, Grundy Center shot 296 to place first. Judd Jirovsky was the medalist with 68, Preston Martens was second at 70, Jalen Kirkpatrick was fifth with 77, Eli Wegmann was 12th with 81 and Jaxon Kiewiet was 17th at 82. Individually, Lewis Textor and Carson Costello of Dike-New Hartford tied for seventh with 78 strokes and advanced individually. They’ve advanced to the 2A district meet at Dike-New Hartford. South Hardin placed fourth and Dike-New Hartford was fifth.
At the 1A sectional at Nashua-Plainfield, West Fork was the champion with 327 strokes. Nolan Schreckengost was the champion with 74 strokes, Levi Staudt was fifth at 81, Jordan Demaray and Aidan Rembe tied for 11th at 86 and Wyatt Bonnema was 26th at 94. Individually, North Butler’s Nolan Reser placed fourth with 80 strokes to advance. They’ll compete at the district meet at Newman Catholic. AGWSR placed fourth, North Butler was fifth and Clarksville was sixth.
At the 3A sectional at Okoboji, Iowa Falls-Alden placed seventh and Hampton-Dumont-CAL was eighth, with no locals advancing.
The district meets will be Monday, May 19.
