The Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Belmond-Klemme Esports teams competed at a high level at the IAHSEA Spring Showdown in Marshalltown on Monday.
H-D-CAL as the #1 seed finished runner-up in the Class 1A Valorant tournament. The Bulldogs won their quarterfinal match 2-0 over #9 South Winneshiek, won their semifinal match 2-1 over #4 seeded Fairfield and fell 2-0 to #2 seeded Lone Tree in the championship match. This is back to back state runner-up placings for the Bulldogs, they also placed second at Winter Sports showdown in Rocket League.
B-K as the #6 seed placed fourth in the Class 1A Valorant tournament. The Broncos had a 2-0 upset win over #3 seeded Central Decatur/Lomoni in quarterfinal match, fell 2-0 to #2 seeded Lone Tree in the semifinal match and fell 2-0 to Fairfield in the third place match.
