Saturday at 11:50 p.m., the Hampton Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing in the 700 block of 8th St. SW.
When officers arrived, they found one male victim with multiple stab wounds. The victim, whose name is being withheld at this time, was transported to Franklin General Hospital and subsequently to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. The status of the victim is unknown at this time.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Isidoro Moreno Montalvo of Hampton, was later arrested and transported to the Franklin County Law Enforcement Center and then to the Hardin County Jail Sunday afternoon where he is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond. After an investigation, officers charged Moreno Montalvo with attempted murder.
Based on the initial investigation, Hampton Police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. Assisting in the investigation were the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Wright County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol and the Franklin County Attorney’s Office.
