A new trial date has been set for a 30-year-old Iowa Falls man facing five felony charges.  Michael William Watts owns Watt’s Accounting, and worked with the Empress Boat Club.

The Empress Boat Club’s Board of Trustees in February reported the theft of funds from the organization’s checking account, as 11 checks totaling $16,500 were allegedly written to Watt’s Accounting with forged signatures.

In addition, the Empress trustees in February reported the theft of $32,400 from their checking account.  25 different checks were allegedly written to Watt’s Accounting.

The charges against Watts include ongoing criminal conduct-unlawful activity, two counts of first degree theft, and two counts of forgery.

His jury trial was set to begin this Tuesday (June 3rd), but has been rescheduled to July 8th at 9am.  If convicted on all the charges, he could be sentenced for up to 55 years in prison.
