Today about 5:35am the New Hartford Fire Department was called out on the report of an explosion and fire at a home at 30-665 Deer Trail Drive just north of the city. No injuries reported, as there were three people inside, and they were able to get out safely.
New Hartford Fire Chief Brad Swarts tells RadioOnTheGo News that upon arrival, firefighters determined there had been an explosion in the basement of the home, which caused some structural damage, including windows being blown out. However, under the circumstances, any fire quickly died out.
Swarts says the main floor of the home received heavy smoke damage, along with the severe damage in the basement.
The cause is under investigation. Assisting agencies were the Parkersburg Fire Department, New Hartford EMS, Butler County EMS, Butler County Sheriff’s Department, and with an assist from Floyd County Emergency Management.
