A 35-year-old Hampton man was killed in a single vehicle accident early Sunday along East Railroad Street in Dows at the NEW Cooperative.
The Iowa State Patrol reports Ty Borcherding was traveling at a high rate of speed while driving a 2024 Subaru Forester southbound on East Railroad Street just after 1am Sunday when the vehicle left the roadway, vaulted, and struck the concrete elevator.
The vehicle then came to rest against the metal door where it caught on fire.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
