The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of central Iowa.
Widely scattered thunderstorms are possible today, mainly during the morning hours. While the risk of severe weather is low, a few storms could bring brief gusty winds.
Looking ahead, Friday is expected to bring hot and humid conditions, with heat index values potentially reaching near 100 degrees in some areas during the afternoon.
Thunderstorm chances return over the weekend and into early next week. Forecasters say it’s too early to tell if any of those storms will be severe, but they’ll continue monitoring conditions in the days ahead.
