The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a large spool of copper wire valued at up to $15,000. According to Sheriff Dave McDaniel, deputies responded to a call just before 9 a.m. Thursday to a location in the 26-thousand block of County Highway S55 near New Providence. The victim reported that the copper wire spool, estimated to be worth between $12,000 and $15,000, had been stolen.
McDaniel said the case appears to be an isolated incident, noting there have not been similar thefts reported in the area recently. Anyone with information about the theft is urged to contact the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
