On Monday, August 26, Ellsworth Community College held its annual Back to School Bash. The event gives students a chance to connect with local businesses and churches, learn about community services, and explore job opportunities.
Ellsworth Community College Provost Barb Klein says the event has been going strong for at least 20 years.
“Yeah. I bet we’ve done this for at least twenty years, says Klein.” “It’s been a great partnership with our Chamber Main Street, our businesses here in town. The churches come and, you know, the businesses can get applications or talk to students about jobs that they have here in our community. The churches can offer services and support to students. And as you can see, we’ve got some of that inflatable stuff too, so the students can have a good time on that too. So it’s, it’s a lot of fun.”
The Back to School Bash also helps businesses and churches build connections with students.
“The economic impact that these students bring to our community is phenomenal,” Klein says. “And so it gives them an opportunity to, you know, spotlight the things that their businesses offer, and raise that awareness with our students of what they can get here in the community.”
Ellsworth Community College reminds any local businesses or churches interested in participating in next year’s Back to School Bash to reach out to the school for more information.
