Following a season-opening loss to Nashua-Plainfield, the schedule doesn’t get any easier for the AGWSR football team. The Cougars are set to take on West Hancock, the top-ranked team in Class A according to several polls, in Week 2. AGWSR is coming off a 53-0 defeat against Nashua-Plainfield. Head Coach James Koop says his team showed effort but lost focus at times.
“There were moments, you know, where kids made plays. You know, there were moments where we let our emotions get the best of us and we lost our composure and it created some problems.”
Despite the difficult schedule to start the season, Koop says his focus is on how his team will respond.
“We’ve got to keep the right mindset. We’ve got to keep working at getting better at things and know that quite possibly the toughest two teams in our schedule are week one and week two. And we’ve got to make sure that we have the right attitude once we come out of those two weeks.”
The West Hancock Eagles enter the game 1-0 after defeating Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 40-0.
Kickoff between AGWSR and West Hancock is set for Friday night at Sanger Field in Britt at 7:00 p.m.
