The North Butler football team will face Starmont for the first time since 2023 and first time in regular season play since 2017 when the teams meet in Class A District 3 action on Friday.

Tucker Pecha rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The defense allowed 202 rushing yards but held their ground at the goal line. Head Coach Jordan Vanderloop on staying true to the team’s base with the ability to adapt.

“It’s just making slight modifications here and there. We need to go a little more run support or a little more pass support with it, seeing where we need to go coverage wise. Do we want to go zone or man,” says Vanderloop. “Offensively, seeing if we’re going to have a hole more often here, or if we’re going have to open up the passing game a little more.  It’s just making little tweaks here or there. We’re trying to stay true to our base offensive and defense, then just adjusting as needed.”

Starmont (0-2, 0-1 A3) fell 63-3 at #2 (A) (Radio Iowa) Saint Ansgar last week. The Stars have 268 yards of offense the first two weeks but have been kept out of the endzone. Jack Thole leads the team with 155 passing yards. The Stars defense has been challenged by the run allowing 182 rushing yards in week one and 388 last week.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Arlington.
