Three Mason City men were arrested Friday evening following a drug investigation that led to a traffic stop and search warrant in Cerro Gordo County. Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle on I-35 near Swaledale around 7:20 p.m. Officers found about 8 pounds of methamphetamine, an ounce of cocaine, and other illegal substances. Two men in the car—68-year-old Bruce Sogard and 69-year-old Mark Albrecht—face multiple felony drug charges.
A short time later, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Quince Avenue, where meth and firearms were seized. A third man, 66-year-old Barry Rowe, was arrested on a probation violation warrant. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
Multiple agencies assisted in the case, including the Iowa State Patrol, Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force. Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
