Landus Cooperative in Greene has reported that more than half of the soybeans in their trade area have been harvested, with moisture levels averaging around 10 percent. Yields are coming in between 28 and 35 bushels per acre in fields unaffected by hail. However, in areas that suffered hail damage, yields are dipping below 30 bushels per acre.
Corn harvest is off to a slower start. Farmers in the area began taking out corn, but many paused due to high moisture content. As a result, they shifted focus back to soybeans. Landus estimates that less than 25 percent of the corn crop has been harvested so far.
The trade area for Landus Cooperative in Greene includes parts of northern Butler County and portions of Floyd County.
