The Rowan City Council met in regular session Monday and city clerk, Aimee Frohling, presented fliers to the council on the open meetings training requirement. As of this year’s legislative session, this is a requirement by state law that newly elected officials and appointed board members take the training within 90 days of taking office. It is also recommended that existing and reelected members take the same course. The Iowa Public Information Board is responsible under the law to oversee the training requirement and provide classes.

In other business, the Rowan City Council approved to advertise for snow removal bids, approved the fiscal year 2025 financial report as presented and learned a court date has been set for the abandoned property petitions in November.
