Bulldogs go 0-3, Cadets 1-2 at girls wrestling season opener

Local girls wrestling teams began their seasons Monday at a quad hosted by Humboldt. Hampton-Dumont-CAL went 0-3 and Iowa Falls-Alden went 1-2.

The Cadets beat the Bulldogs 36-24 in a dual where each match resulted in a fall. The Cadets got wins by Kymri Koenigsfeld at 125, Aubree Silvey at 140, Madison Fisher at 235 and three forfeits. The Bulldogs had wins by Marlee Maas at 135, Juliette Koch at 155, Elsie Kuper at 170 and Maren Subbert at 190.

Against the Wildcats, the Bulldogs fell 52-24. They got falls by Megan Severs at 140, Koch at 155 and Subbert at 190.

In a 54-18 loss to Lake Mills, Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s wins were a fall by Severs at 140 and two forfeits.

Iowa Falls-Alden had three falls in a 48-29 loss to Humboldt, including Aubree Silvey at 140, Lauryn Silvey at 145 and Sofia Orozco at 190. Koenigsfeld got a tech fall at 125.

The Cadets fell to Lake Mills 37-36, with Lake Mills earning a team score tiebreaker by having more matches where they scored the first points. IFA got falls by Sami Harms at 115, Koenigsfeld at 125, Brooklyn Gehling at 130 and Aubree Silvey at 140.
