
The Clarksville City Council met in regular session Monday and opened a public hearing regarding a setback variance at 124 N. Baughman Street. Comments were received in support of the project, and the council approved the variance. Updates followed on prefab housing regulations and ATV/UTV concerns on city property. Mayor Jerald Heuer noted recent nuisance property complaints and interest from the City of Allison in a potential partnership.
The library shared annual statistics and upcoming holiday events. The fire department added a new junior firefighter Nathan Moon and discussed grant opportunities for new air packs. The ambulance service introduced new members Alex Long and Karen Miller and demonstrated a newly donated monitor. The new additions to the fire and ambulance departments were approved by the council.
The council also authorized fuel-monitoring upgrades at cost of between $4-$5000 and agreed to place a temporary stop sign at N. Elizabeth and W. Slimmer. The council also advanced the Church Street drainage project, and approved a $1,600 donation to the Clarksville Food Pantry.
