AP-GC and AGWSR earn podium placements at South Tama Invitational

The AP-GC girls wrestling team placed eighth and AGWSR was 11th at Thursday’s South Tama Invitational.

Highlighting the night for the Falcons, Grace Storjohann began her season with a championship finish with four falls at 120. Her first three were completed in the first period, with the championship match being won in the third period.

Caylee Harken placed third at 145. After winning her first two matches, she fell to Layna DeMoss of Benton in the semifinal, then won a fall and major decision in the consolation bracket.

Other AP-GC medalists included Jocelyn Freed placing fourth at 130, Zoey Uhlenhopp fourth at 155, Queveah Books fifth at 235 and Kathryn Patrick seventh at 235.

Donnaly Garcia of AGWSR placed third at 105. After falling in the quarterfinal, she won four matches in the consolation bracket to earn a podium spot. Teammate Brooklynn Simons placed third at 190, falling in the semifinal and winning two consolations.

Others medaling for AGWSR included Brynn Kappel placing seventh at 145, Madison Ibeling placing eighth at 115 and Bella King placing eighth at 155.
