Clarksville Boys Basketball Rebuilds Lineup with Returners Stepping Up

clarksville-4

The Clarksville boys basketball team is working to fill a void in their rotation left by the departure of last year’s top three production leaders Sam Hoodjer, John Stauffer and Dawson Barnett. The trio accounted for 953 of the team’s 1,167 points last season. Head Coach Jonah Woodward shares some players that have put in the work to step up for this year’s team.

“Cam does a phenomenal job for us. He’s always going to come in and do all the little things that may not necessarily show up on a stat sheet. Then we have guys like Briggs Hoodjer, Boden Miller, Harley Barnett, Kale Bohr,” says Woodward. “All five of those guys I just mentioned had about perfect attendance this offseason when it came to basketball. Those guys just came in and sacrificed a lot of time to grow our culture. We’re really looking forward to seeing who’s going to become a leader for us. We are going to be a very young team.”

Senior Camden Behrends is the only returning starter with 60 points, 63 rebounds and 54 assists. Sophomore Harley Barnett added 55 points and 93 rebounds (the third most on the team) last season. The Indians will also have six more returners that will seek to take on more expanded roles this season. Woodward highlights focus areas.

“Not just one or two guys, developing player led leadership is going to be very important and a huge key to our success moving forward,” says Woodward. “We’re going to focus on defending it, rebounding it, and taking care of it in the first few weeks. If we do those three things, I really love where this team is going to be at consistently night in and night out. It goes back to what are we doing to earn the right to win games. It’s going to come down to our work ethic and execution in practice.”

Clarksville will host Janesville for the season opener on Tuesday, December 2.
